Collaborative design sprints workshop

This 2-day event is a simulation of a collaborative design sprint to help you get from problem statement to content clarity fast. Collaborative design sprints work best for teams and organisations that need to bring key stakeholders or subject matter experts into the design process, giving them a “voice in the room” to feed into the design of the end product or content. The final sign-off still sits with the content owner. This workshop takes place over a condensed 2-day period, but you can spread out the four different elements once you know the basics to suit your schedules.

There are two ways this workshop can be delivered.

We have a few pre-designed workshops based on real-life scenarios where the collaborative design sprint has supported content delivery. We’ll select the one that’s as close to your business world as possible, so it feels familiar to your work.

If you have a specific content problem you are already aware of, and 2 to 3 key stakeholders who can participate in most of the workshop, we can workshop your content problem instead. You will need to provide some analytical data or user insight ahead of time, if you have it, so we can prepare the digital workspace for the workshop. We can discuss this in detail during your booking.

Workshop structure

The workshop has four distinct phases, each with its own parts.

  1. Map the problem space and agree on the goal (day 1 morning)
  2. Solution sketching (day 1 afternoon)
  3. Solution voting (day 2 morning)
  4. Prototype test storyboards (day 2 afternoon)

The workshop will cover replaying back testing outcomes, retrospectives, and other optional additions that can be included in the collaborative design sprint.

If key stakeholder availability is limited, session 1 is the most critical for them to attend, followed by sessions 2 and 3. Session 4 is important, but if the previous sessions have run smoothly, the expert knowledge will already be captured.

What you’ll get

After the workshop, you’ll have:

  • Invaluable experience of participating in a collaborative design sprint
  • a framework that you can chop, rearrange, expand, and contract to suit the scale of your content problem
  • a collaborative approach to bring stakeholders into your design process, which removes barriers and creates a shared understanding of why content is important
  • experience of being empowered decision makers and curious problem solvers

Each attendee receives a digital workbook which explains the 2-day course in a structured workflow to follow and repeat. The workbook can be used for content problems of any size or format.

Cost

£700 for up to 15 attendees. This session often works best with 8-10 participants.

Technical requirements

As this is a practical simulation, attendees will use a shared digital workspace and tools like PowerPoint, Word or an equivalent. Attendees may need to share their screen when presenting things outside of the shared workspace. Previous experience of using a shared digital workspace is beneficial. If this is something your team does not have experience with, please tell us when booking. We can share supporting documents ahead of the workshop.

Support after the workshop

Collaborative design sprints are difficult, but incredibly rewarding when things go to plan. We offer check-ins before you deliver a collaborative design sprint, as well as retrospective check-ins to discuss any issues, questions, or solutions you may have around ways of working afterwards.

Each check-in is charged at £50 per hour.
